Katie and Simon got married a couple of weeks ago on a beautiful sunny day at St. Andrew's Church, Shifnal, Shropshire. It was the most amazing day!
St. Andrew's Church is very special to Katie, Simon and their beautiful twin girls as they were all Christened there. Katie was also confirmed there and was part of the church choir and orchestra. In fact, Katie and Simon were born and bred in Shifnal, as were their parents and grandparents. So their daughters are 4th generation Shifnal'ites!
Inspiration for the big day...well Katie has always wanted a 1950's style wedding dress and says "It's a classic, timeless and elegant look". She then based the rest of the wedding around that with all the fabulous china and bunting. Katie wanted to make as much as she could herself to keep costs down - 'thrifty fifties' style. All of the cups & saucers and china for the cake stands were sourced from local charity shops.
There was even a beautiful vintage coach, from Leach Classic Collection, which transported the bridal party to and from the church. It was a scorcher of a day...probably the nicest day of the year so far. Katie and Simon were really lucky as the church had originally been booked for the following Saturday, which turned out to be a complete contrast with rain all day and was about 10 degrees cooler! They had to change the date as The Shropshire Farmhouse, where the reception was held, was not available on the original date! Phew!
Katie's beautiful dress was from The Dressing Rooms in Halesowen, and the gorgeous flowers were by two local ladies, Angela and Ann, who are members of a flower club.
Here are some of the highlights from the day...
