It's that time of year again...The Gadget Show Live! Those of you who know me well know that I love my gadgets. I even had my 5 minutes of fame a few years ago when I appeared on The Gadget Show when I took part in one of the Focus Groups.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting The Gadget Show Live Pro, which is open to professionals, trade, and the press, a day before The Gadget Show Live itself opens to members of the gadget-loving public.
It was great to walk around the halls at the NEC in Birmingham, and look (pronounced drool) at the different exhibitors. It will be a bit different when I return on Friday...a lot lot busier!
I spent most of the day watching presentations from Mark Cleghorn, Victoria Grech, and Mark Seymour all of whom are amazing and very talented photographers. I always come away from events like these full of inspiration and ideas, which then enables me to become a better photographer. It allows me to keep my style fresh and current, which I can then pass on to my clients. I'm a great believer that whatever your chosen profession is, you never stop learning.
If you have not heard of Mark Cleghorn, Victoria Grech, and Mark Seymour, here's a little bit about them...
Mark Cleghorn - Mark is a bestselling author and has written books on portrait and wedding photography as well as Digital and Lighting, he has judged photographers work all over the world and is still considered to be one of the major influences of style and technique in the wedding and portrait industry today. Most importantly he is still a working photographer and his portraits hang in thousands of homes around the world bringing a smile across generations and a memory of a time never to be forgotten.
Victoria Grech - Victoria is an international female wedding photographer and film maker. Victoria’s list of celebrity and royalty wedding, portrait and commercial clients span across Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Cuba, India, Europe and the US. Victoria is also one of the leading trainers in the world of DSLR video.
Mark Seymour - Mark is one of the UK’s leading documentary photographers and runs his own very successful wedding photography business, building his reputation with over twenty years’ experience, and has chaired the London Portrait Group. Recognised by the industry with awards including wedding photographer of the year on three occasions, appearing in magazines and working with Nikon UK as their wedding ambassador, his skills and unique style are instantly recognisable. Mark’s images are displayed and sold in galleries, including his amazing shot of Jimmy Choo at the National Portrait Gallery.
Mark is also a highly accomplished and passionate street photographer and has documented the lives of people around the world, including powerful images based on everyday people expressing their political views and religious practices.
I took a few photos during the day with my gorgeous little Fuji X100. A montage of these can be seen below, which I posted on Twitter...which was then retweeted by Victoria :)
I was so excited earlier today when Victoria tweeted me to tell me that I had won the competition to have a one-to-one Skype call with her. I am busy preparing my list of questions to ask her ;) What an amazing opportunity to learn from such a talented awesome photographer! Victoria...I am looking forward to our one-to-one.
Well, it's back to The Gadget Show Live on Friday. I'll be posting some more photos from the Supertheatre featuring Jason, Rachel, Jon and Ortis very soon!
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you visit again soon to see my latest work. If you would like me to photograph you please contact me via my website, Twitter, Facebook, or give me a call :)
